Zones of Regulation at Old Buckenham Primary School
The Zones of Regulation is a ‘curriculum designed to foster self-regulation and emotional control’ Leah Kuypers
We have set up the Zones of Regulation Approach in School and recently we held a Parents Workshop on the Zones ethos and aims, which some of you attended.
The Launch
We introduced a new Zone each day across the week in Assemblies then classes developed a classroom display and discussed the Zones with the children. The initial week was about the children understanding the different Zones and that all feelings are valid and it is essential that we learn how to recognize and manage our feelings.
This formed Lesson 1 in a series of 18 Lessons in total. The 18 lessons will be integrated into PSHCE time across the school.
If you would like more information on Zones or to introduce it at home too, please see the resources added to our website or do ask to speak to any staff member or myself at the school.
